Tattoo, Easter and our first Kiwi wedding!

The weekend after the Holzwarth's left, Jocelyn got her 4th tattoo at a place called Zealand Tattoo. This whole NZ experience has inspired her to get a tattoo with the words, "carpe diem" which means seize the day. From the time Trey and Jocelyn had to make the decision about whether to move to NZ or not, they have chosen to seize the day and have not regretted one minute of it. It will serve as a reminder to Jocelyn, if she is hesitating taking a chance in life, to just do it! Trey sat with her patiently. The tattoo was done by a guy named Zane who has been tattooing for 22 years.

Ironically, that same morning there was another American girl getting a tattoo by the other artists at Zealand Tattoo. The tattoo artist was also American so for a while, in the shop, there were more yanks than Kiwis!! The tattoo only took about 20 minutes and is on the inside of Jocelyn's left wrist. No tattoos for Trey :)

Also, we celebrated our first Kiwi Easter. We stayed in town but both got a 4 day weekend (Good Friday, the weekend and Easter Monday they call it). Saturday was so nice that we actually went to Sumner beach. The day was downright HOT and Jocelyn reckons it has been the nicest day since we have lived here. The tide was so low that we could walk pretty far down the beach and the water only came up to our ankles. We collected sea shells, saw some people fishing and then retired to a deck at a restaurant on the beach for some snacks and drinks. It was so peaceful just watching the waves crash with the mountains in the background. Because of the trees around the beach, you know you are in New Zealand. Before we headed home, we got some homemade ice cream and picked up some movies to watch on Easter day since everything shuts down. Easter, in many ways here is a bigger deal than Christmas! It is like a ghost town.

Jocelyn had her very first hot cross buns which seem to be a very big deal here. Mmmmm. We also went out and bought traditional Kiwi Easter candy, or at least things that are common here that we do not have at home. We got an Easter egg with chocolate covered pineapple lumps inside, Cadbury creme eggs but instead of cream, there is caramel inside and also chocolate covered marshmallow eggs. The caramel egg was Jocelyn's favorite and Trey discovered that he hates Easter candy.

This past week was Jocelyn's last week in the Riccarton hairyLemon offices. She had a huge hand in helping with the shift and they will be moving into their new location on Victoria Street Monday the 12th of April. Jocelyn will have a whole 4 minute walk to work! LOL She is pretty excited. It is also good because now Trey will try to go to the gym in the mornings since he won't have to drive Jocelyn to work anymore.
